We have been working on our reading fluency in class.  Two of our fantastic first grade readers have worked on a poem and would love to share it with you.  Here is their digital reading of "The Nesting Hour."

It was a wonderful seeing the opening ceremony by the monks.  They began making the mandala.  We took some time and observed the monks making the mandala.  What are your thoughts on the mandala?  Does it look like an easy thing to make?  Do you remember why they are making the manadala? What do you wonder?  What do you think about?  What do you see?

We are learning to type a blog post.  Some of our spelling might not be right, but that is OK.  We are learning to spell and use spaces.  We hope you enjoy our blog posts.

Today we are going to evaluate the story we read in class called "The Rabbit and the Dragon King."  Did you like the story, why or why not?

We are working on antonyms, double consonants, making text-to-text connections, and using context clues to define words.  For math, we are learning about place value through games and also we are learning how to use the symbols <, , >, and = to compare numbers.
